I’m taking Corbett Barr’s ‘Start a Blog that Matters’ course, and I’m on the ‘Choosing a Topic’ module.
Now you may be saying to yourself, wait, isn’t Brain Currency a blog? (yes it is.) And, don’t you have a topic? (yes, but…)
I don’t feel my topic and audience are “niched down” enough yet, which is why I’m going through the course. I’ve learned through
experience if you do not have things well-defined, your audience won’t stick, and you won’t be passionate about your venture.
I’m telling you this because the exercise for this module requires me to determine my top 2 high-level topic ideas, then write 5
posts for each PLUS an outline for a product I could create for each topic. This isn’t set in concrete; it’s just a test to see how both
topics “feel”, and to gauge what my “gut” tells me on the viability of one over the other.
I’ve selected 2 topics to test: Growing Your Brand and Podcasting. I’m going to start with podcasting, so you’ll see 5 posts related
to that topic, followed by 5 on brand growth. I’ll put these posts in their own category so you can see what I come up with.
I would sincerely appreciate your feedback on this process as I go through it, so as I always say, hit me up in the comments.
